During a EurepGAP workshop in Istanbul, which was jointly coordinated and conducted by Turkish Food Safety Association „GGD“ and the Expert Centre EU Meda Programme, funded by the EU Commission, the announcement of the foundation of the Turkish National Technical Workgroup was made by Dr. Kristian Moeller, Secretary EurepGAP.

ALARA`s Orchard Director Dr. Belit Balci signed the contract with EUREPGAP to coordinate the Turkish National Workgroup for Fruit and Vegetables.

ALARA is one of the largest certified farmer groups in EurepGAP and has been EurepGAP supplier member for 4 years.

The national working group will seek to win more Turkish EurepGAP members, which can join, as soon they have signed up for EurepGAP membership (see http://member.eurep.org), they will start working on the development of a Turkish interpretation guide of EurepGAP and look forward to further cooperating with the Turkish Ministry of Agriculture.

Dr. Samim Saner, President of the Turkish Food Safety Association, explained to the participant organisations from Turkey that his association welcomes such activities and promises his support.
