First Palm Oil Plantation EurepGAP Certified in Malaysia
in Fruit and Vegetables
Tanah Merah Strategic Operating Unit 1 (SOU 1), belonging to Kumpulan Guthrie Berhad, a major plantation-based company in Malaysia and Indonesia, achieved EurepGAP Certification  for 3 of its palm oil plantations on December 21st 2004, the first-ever plantation estates in the world.

The 3 palm oil estates, namely Tanah Merah Estate, Bukit Pelandok Estate and Sua Betong Estate, covering a total of approximately 8500 hectares is based in West Malaysia. The External Audit was carried out by Mr. Tom Johnson, NCSI Certification Body from Australia.

qa plus asia-pacific sdn bhd, the sole representative for EurepGAP  in Malaysia were the consultants to the project.

Following the success of EurepGAP at Tanah Merah SOU 1, the next plan for Guthrie is to replicate the above to 3 other SOUs in Malaysia, namely Bukit Talang, Ulu Remis and Rantau.
