In response to the challenges posed by fast changing Crop Protection
Product legislation, the EurepGAP Technical and Standards Committee
developed guidance notes to help farmers and growers to become more
fully aware of the Maximum Residue Limits (MRLs) in operation in the
markets where the product will be sold. The changes have been
introduced so that growers develop a high awareness of the MRLs in
operation in the countries where the product will be or is likely to be
sold. It is important that growers can demonstrate that their produce
meets these Country of Destination MRL requirements particularly if the
regimes are stricter than those in the country of production. EurepGAP
stresses the importance of residue screening and it provides further
re-assurance where the exact destination of the product is not known.
To allow time for growers to become familiar with the new requirements the amended procedures will become binding in the certification programme from 1st May 2005. The changes have been included in the new Version of the Normative Documents. Please see Version 2.1 of the Control Points and Compliance Criteria. EurepGAP also produced a list of contacts where growers can find the most up to date information concerning MRLs. This will help growers to meet the challenges posed by legislative requirements. This list is available below, under Guidelines and Supporting documents (in English language). *NOTE for implementation of EUREPGAP IFA V3.0-Mar07:* The new version (V3.0-Mar07) of General Regulations shall only be used together with the new version of Control Points and Regulations and is valid from 1 March 2007. Certification against any valid previous version can take place until 31 December 2007, using the General Regulations and Control Points and Compliance Criteria of that specific version. For certification against the new version, the producer must comply with the All Farm *and* relevant scope(s) (Crops Base, Livestock Base and/or Aquaculture Base) *as well as* relevant sub-scope(s) (Fruit and Vegetables, Combinable Crops, Green Coffee, Tea, Flower and Ornamentals, Cattle and Sheep, Dairy, Pigs, Poultry, and/or Salmon). See general rules for certification and compliance in the General Regulations Part I. Important: Not all documents have been translated into all languages. For a complete set of documents, please select "English" language. The translation of the new Version of the EUREPGAP Standard is in process for the following languages: Spanish, German, French, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese, Greek, Turkish, Polish, Hungarian, Arabic, Chinese and Thai. Further languages will follow. As soon as the first proofreading process has been finalized by the National Technical Working Groups or other partner organisations in the respective countries, these versions will be published on our website as provisionally approved versions which means that comments can be considered before the translations become final versions.
