EUREPGAP Leaders in Latin America Set Agenda
in Fruit and Vegetables, Flower and Ornamentals, Integrated Farm Assurance, Integrated Aquaculture Assurance, (Green) Coffee
The first EUREPGAP Leadership Day Latin America concluded an intensive training and awareness week in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Leaders of the industry from all product sectors of EUREPGAP met to receive training on the new IFA standard version 3 and developed an action plan to support the adoption of EUREPGAP on the continent.
The event was hosted by Fundacion ArgenINTA, the coordinator of the  Argentinian National Technical Working Group. The delegates came from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Columbia, Mexico, Peru and Uruguay. All attending leaders agreed on a list of priorities and complemented that with country-specific tasks set to complete within the next twelve months. Finalising the national interpretation guides of EUREPGAP is number one, followed by intensifying the local consultation process to other stakeholders like Governments, NGOs and regional subgroups within countries.

Kristian Moeller, Secretary EUREPGAP, said in his closing remarks in Buenos Aires: „Latin American countries recognise the importance for co-operation and sharing of best practice in order to speed up the adoption of EUREPGAP on their continent, hereby strengthening their global market position and role in the partnership of EUREPGAP. We appreciate that and are committed to intensify our relationship and network to the region. We are beginning to find more evidence,  that our concept of member driven National Technical Workgroups has been proven to impact the global harmonisation process significantly and we encourage more countries and regions to adopt that model.“
