Kenya’s Flower Production Standards recognised as “World Class”
in Flower and Ornamentals
Today EurepGAP announced the successful completion of the benchmarking of Kenya Flower Council’s production standards with EurepGAP’s Ornamentals Scheme. Steve Homer, Chairman of EurepGAP’s Ornamental Technical and Standards Committee said “On a global level this is the first national growers association to achieve benchmark status with the EurepGAP Ornamentals Scheme. Achieving this equivalence with the EurepGAP benchmark means that Kenyan growers can obtain EurepGAP certification whilst retaining local ownership and management of their own national scheme. The initiative also helps to bring about a significant degree of harmonisation of industry standards making us more efficient and effective.” EurepGAP Chairman Nigel Garbutt said “With this benchmarking Kenya Flower Council’s standards will be clearly understood and accepted by global buyers in a global marketplace – this is a considerable achievement that continues to re-enforce Kenya’s determination to be at the fore front of meeting the requirements of its International customers.” |
